Welcome to a new post, dear fairy friends,

If you were ever invited to a forest picnic by a fairy, what would you bring?

Inspired by the warmth of spring and the playful charm of fairytales, this video is all about romanticising the season and celebrating the tiny joys that make life feel magical.

Fairy Berry Gallettes

(Makes 4 mini galettes, approx. 10 cm/4 in)

Rustic berry galettes on a wooden table with mint, yellow flowers, and a bowl of blackberries. Cozy, homemade vibe.

These rustic, golden and colourful galettes are simple to make and perfect for sharing on a picnic blanket.

For the crust (basic pie dough):

  • 1 1/2 cups of flour

  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder

  • 1 tablespoon of organic sugar

  • 1/4 cup of oil

  • 1/2 cup of warm water

  • Optional: plant-based milk and raw sugar for brushing and sprinkling

Filling:

  • 2 cups mixed berries (I used blueberries, strawberries, raspberries)

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest

  • 2 teaspoons raw sugar

  • Optional: one tablespoon flour or cornstarch if your berries are very juicy

  • Decorations: fresh mint leaves, edible flowers, and a few blackberries for an enchanted look

Instructions:

  1. Start with the dough. In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients and add the liquids gradually.

  2. Use a spoon or your fingers until the dough just comes together. Don’t overwork it.

  3. Let it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.

  4. Divide into 4, roll each piece into a small circle.

  5. Mix the berries with lemon juice, lemon zest, sugar and flour.

  6. Fill the centre with the berry mix, fold the edges over, brush with milk and sprinkle with raw sugar.

  7. Bake at 180°C (356°F) for around 25–30 minutes or until golden.

  8. Let cool and decorate with mint, blackberries, and flowers.

Romanticising Spring

Open fairy book with illustrations of poppies and fairies on a wooden table. Nearby are daisies, a patterned cup, and a wrapped parcel.

Spring has always felt like an invitation to rediscover wonder in the small things — the scent of blossoms on the breeze, the tiny new leaves, the way dandelions seem to pop up cheerfully.

In recent years, not only have I found immense joy in romanticising the everyday, but it has also been a way of healing. It’s about adding intention, beauty, and even a little mischief to ordinary moments. It doesn’t need grand gestures — sometimes, all it takes is pouring tea into a floral cup instead of a mug, or wearing a twirly dress on a Tuesday.

This season, I am determined to add a pinch more whimsy to my everyday routines. Spring offers so many chances to reconnect with nature and imagination.

Today's video is about that feeling. To the delight of preparing a homemade treat, the anticipation of packing a basket, and the quiet magic of waiting under the trees, just in case a fairy shows up. It's also a little guide, in case you ever receive a similar invitation...

And if you’re curious about the book I brought along to keep me company while I waited, it’s called A Natural History of Fairies, a beautifully illustrated read that feels like it came straight from a woodland library. You can find it here (this is my affiliate link).

If you are ever invited to a forest picnic by a fairy, there are a few important things you must bring along...

A basket — For treats, trinkets, and maybe a found treasure or two.

A teatowel or tablecloth — To turn any patch of grass into the cosiest of spots.

A teacup — Because fairy teacups are delightfully tiny, and you would need hundreds of pourings to stay hydrated.

Something sweet to share — Well, this is mandatory. Fairies adore homemade baking.

A Beverage of your taste — According to the day temperature and season.

A few flowers — To decorate your spot or to offer as a gift, in case you encounter another magical creature.

A comfortable dress — One that lets you twirl, run after butterflies, and sit cross-legged under the trees.

Cute socks, of course — Because you never know when you’ll need to kick off your shoes and dance barefoot.

And a cosy book — Because, as you might have heard, fairies are never on time, since their adventures tend to make them very late.

Our Community Fairy Realm

Over in my private Discord group (for Patreon members), May has been dedicated to fairies!

Each Monday, we answer a new whimsical prompt as if we were fairies ourselves. So far, we’ve pondered:

✨ “If you were a fairy, what would be your habitat?”

✨ “What kind of tiny treasures would you collect?”

The responses have been so heartwarming and creative. If you’d like to join us for next Monday’s prompt, I’d love to welcome you into our cosy community. 💛
